Just like that, the undefeateds are gone, and the winless are no more!  Young Guns made quick work of Joe’s Pats with a 94-68 victory, and Sofa King Great posted the third highest score of the season, yet still lost by 15. And Big Sack No TDs held off a surging Attack of Mahomes to pull of a 90-83 victory to get in the win column.  Three teams now sit at 3-1 (Joe’s Pats, Sofa King Great, and American BadAss), four sit at 2-2 (76, Attack of Mahomes, Coors Light Drunk Guys, and Young Guns) and three sit at 1-3 (sprouts, Big Sack No TDs, and Wyld Ass Monkeys).  3-4-3.  Ah such symmetry.

This week my team took home the Weekly High Score Prize with the highest point total of the year so far, 135 points!  (This was literally 1 point less than what I scored in Weeks 1 & 2 combined this season).  And it was accomplished in spite of having a 1-point-scoring runningback and a 2-point-scoring tight end.  What made up for it was three players scoring north of 30 points!… Josh Allen 35 pts, Dallas Defense 31 pts and Nico Collins 31 pts.  (97 points from three players – booyah!).  Sofa King Great battled hard and would have remained undefeated against any other team this week.  Crazy matchups… already the second time this season, the highest scoring team defeated the second highest scoring team for the week.

Since 2007, teams have scored over 100 points 555 times with only 74 of those occurrences happening in a loss.  So historically speaking, scoring over 100 has a winning percentage of 86.7%.  However this season, there have been 10 scores over 100, but only 7 have been winners.  So this season, scoring over 100 is lagging the historically average big time, only winning 70% of the time.  Last season there were 21 scores over 100 and all but one was a winner (95.2%).  This week for Sofa King Great scoring 120 points in a loss ranks as the 2nd highest score in a losing effort in league history.  James now owns the top three spots in this dubious category, having scored the record of 124 points in a loss in Week 5-2021, as well as having scored 118 in a loss back in Week 15-2013.

BIG TIME

  • Christian McCaffrey, RB – Sofa King Great – 41 pts – CMac had a career high 4 touchdowns (3 rushing, 1 receiving) to go along with 177 total yards from scrimmage!  He leads all runningbacks in fantasy, and it’s really not even close… he has 101 points on the season, which leads the 2nd place RB (Mostert) by 28 points.
  • Seattle, DEF – Coors Light Drunk Guys – 35 pts – The Seahawks just clobbered the Giants on Monday Night Football… Three turnovers, 1 Defensive TD, only surrendering 3 points, and get this… 11, yes 11(!) quarterback sacks.
  • Josh Allen, QB – 76 – 35 pts – The Bills just straight over powered the Dolphins, with Allen having an absolute field day – 320 yards passing and 4 TD’s—plus 17 rushing yards and another TD!  Allen currently ranks as the #2 quarterback in fantasy, trailing Justin Herbert by 11 points.
  • A.J. Brown, WR – sprouts – 32 pts – After scoring just 9 points through the first 2 weeks, Brown has bounced back big time with 13 points last week and now 32 this week!
  • David Montgomery, RB – Attack of Mahomes – 32 pts – The Detroit backfield was supposed to feature several guys, but Montgomery has simply taken over.  He had 32 carries this week (most of any back in the league) and netted 121 yards and 3 TDs, along with 20 receiving yards!
  • Nico Collins, WR – 76 – 31 pts – Collins is becoming the go-to receiver in Houston, as he is target of 54.9% of CJ Stroud’s passes.  This week that amounted to a cool 168 yards and 2 TD’s versus a weak Pittsburgh secondary.  Get this, Collins currently ranks as the 5th highest scoring receiver in fantasy, just one point behind Stefon Diggs.
  • Dallas, DEF – 76 – 31 pts – This was the defensive performance the Cowboys were supposed to have last week against the Cardinals.  But instead last week’s game must’ve just made them mad as they absolutely shut down everything the Patriots tried.  They finished with 3 turnovers, 2 defensive TD’s, 2 sacks and only gave up 3 points.
  • Stefon Diggs, WR – Young Guns – 30 pts – This was the 3rd week Diggs has gone over 100 yards this season (120 yards this week), plus he added 3 TD’s.

COME ON MAN

  • Raheem Mostert, RB – 76 – 1 pt – Perhaps he blew his load last week, as this week saw him rush 7 times for just 9 yards, plus he lost a fumble.  The only thing keeping him out of negative points was tallying 36 receiving yards.
  • Aaron Jones, RB – Wyld Ass Monkeys – 1 pt – Wow, that 24-point Week 1 performance seems like a distant memory now, as he has scored all of 1 point since then.  One whole point.
  • Amari Cooper, WR – Joe’s Pats – 1 pt – Coop only managed to catch 1 of 6 balls thrown his way from some guy named Dorian Thompson-Robinson.  Yes that was the Browns quarterback, not a law firm.
  • Deebo Samuel, WR – Joe’s Pats – 0 pts – After two solid weeks, Deebo was simply not a part of the game plan this week.  He had 3 carries for 6 yards (weird for a WR), and was not targeted in the passing game (also weird for a WR).
  • George Kittle, TE – sprouts – 0 pts – McCaffrey basically hogged all of the fantasy points for the 49ers this week, as all Kittle got was 1 catch for 9 yards.
  • Miami, DEF – Wyld Ass Monkeys – -1 pt – It appears the Miami defense just expects their offense to obscenely outscore their opponent, because they provided no resistance to the Bills.  Literal topiaries on the field. They gave up 48 points and only managed two sacks.

BEST BENCH

It’s another first timer this week, and it came with the lowest bench improvement total this season.  With just a 29-point-improvement possibility, the Week 4 Best Bench goes to… Young Guns!  John needed to make three roster moves to get there:  Baltimore for New Orleans +14, K. Herbert for J. Gibbs +12 and T. Lawrence for T. Tagovailoa +3.  The 29 point improvement is the lowest since Week 11 of last season.

Get those waivers in and get ready for Week 5!  Next week will be the annual ‘Week 5 Playoff Predictions’!
