Attack!!

In what ended up being the lowest scoring week since Week 9-2021, only one team managed to crack triple digits.  Big congrats to Attack of Mahomes, who thoroughly smashed their opponent, Joe’s Pats, by 44 points, and finished with a league best 103 points!!  Timmy got there with big games from Kyren Williams (24 pts), Cooper Kupp (20 pts), Patrick Mahomes (17 pts) and Travis Kelce (12 pts), plus he got 17 points from his kicker Harrison Butker.  What? The Chiefs' kicker scored as many as Mahomes?!  Nice work Tim-Tim!  Attack of Mahomes is the 5th different team to win a High Score this season in only 6 weeks!

As I mentioned this was a low scoring week with only 755 total points scored in our league.  Last week we tallied 900, and the average coming into this week was 879.  The lowest score from last year was 782 which happened twice, Weeks 3 and 6.   In terms of NFL team total fantasy points, the average coming into this week was 2,327, and they only scored 2,023 points.  Last week six NFL teams posted over 100 fantasy points, and there was only one this week.

Update on fantasy scoring by NFL team below, along with a check in on the current Top 5’s, and of course this week’s Best Bench!

BIG TIME

  • Raheem Mostert, RB – 76 – 30 pts – Another big week from Mostert, who finished with 132 total yards and 3 TD’s!  He is currently the 2nd ranked running back…not bad for an 11th round pick.
  • Tyreek Hill, WR – Wyld Ass Monkeys – 25 pts – Hill is absolutely lighting it up this season as he is on pace for 119 receptions, 2,306 yards (!) and 17 TD’s.  (For reference, the all-time NFL record for yards in a single season is 1,964 held by Calvin Johnson).
  • Jared Goff, QB – Coors Light Drunk Guys – 25 pts – Two solid weeks for Goff has him as the 4th ranked quarterback.  This week he tossed for 353 yards and 2 TD’s.
  • Kyren Williams, RB – Attack of Mahomes – 24 pts – Big game from Williams, 158 yards and a TD, but ended on a bad note when he left the game with an ankle injury.

COME ON MAN

  • George Kittle, TE – sprouts – 0 pts – Literal feast or famine with this guy… his last five weeks:  3, 9, 0, 24, 0.  What a roller coaster ride.
  • Cole Kmet, TE – Young Guns – 0 pts – After two solid weeks from Kmart (20 pts and 10 pts), he was held to just 2 catches for 9 yards.  Yuck.
  • Logan Thomas, TE – Wyld Ass Monkeys – 0 pts – The good news: Thomas caught every pass thrown his way.  The bad news:  That amounted to one catch for 2 yards.  Oof.

The quarterback and wide receiver positions saw the most turnover since the Week 3 check-in.  For both of those positions, only two of the top five from Week 3 are still currently in the top five.  For the QB’s, it is Tua Tagovailoa (3rd->3rd) and Justin Herbert (2nd->5th). For the WR’s, it’s Tyreek Hill (1st->1st) and Keenan Allen (2nd -> 4th).  Defense saw the fewest changes, as only one top five defense from Week 3 is not still there this week (Philadelphia).

SCORING BY NFL TEAM

As far as fantasy points by NFL team, there is Miami and then there is everyone else.  On the season Miami has scored 691 points, in six games.  An average of 115.2 per game!  The 691 points is 140 more than 2nd place Buffalo, and 220 more than the 10th best team, Minnesota (471).  Miami has scored more than double what five teams have scored (TB, CLE, PIT, NE, NYG, who have scored 334, 324, 321, 304 and 284, respectively), and nearly double Green Bay (348).

It remains to be seen if Miami can continue at this pace, because right now they are simply unstoppable.

BEST BENCH

Low scores in active rosters this week and not a whole lot on the bench as well.  Across the nine non-Best Bench teams, the average improvement was just 13.8 points.  But one team did significantly better than that, and added a 2nd Best Bench in a row in the process!  With a solid 32-point-improvement possibility, the Week 6 Best Bench goes to… Sofa King Great!  James needed three roster moves to get there this time:  A. Thielen for D. Adams +15, B. Hall for J. Mixon +9, and J. Meyers for M. Evans +8.  After going for so long with no Best Benches, James becomes our first back-to-back week winner since I did it in Weeks 4 and 5 last season.  Happens to the best of us señor…  ;-)

Get those waivers in and get ready for Week 7!!
